Albums And Frames / December 20, 2018 / Regina Ford
Department stores still sell the bulky photo albums of old, but other forms of albums have become increasingly popular over time. Many albums are now inexpensive, soft-cover books into which people can easily slip their digital prints. Digital photo books are also very popular among professionals, because they allow the photography studio to arrange entire pages before printing, rather than editing the photos and then arranging them on to a physical page. These albums look similar to school yearbooks.
Some albums close with a snap or buckle; others have a leather strap that is tied shut. They usually come in either a 12-inch square or an 8½-inch by 11-inch format. The larger format allows more diversity when laying out the photos. A nicer album with the pages stitched in place cannot have pages added to it. Some albums have ring binders so you can add new pages later. A one-inch ring can hold about 100 photos. A two-inch ring can hold up to 400. The non-expandable types require careful planning to make sure you don't run out of pages or have empties at the end.
