Choosing the size and style of the album you will be using plays a very important role in how you will then proceed with the rest of your scrapbook project. There are many album styles and sizes to choose from. Just pay a quick visit to any crafts store and you'll see what I mean. The most common sizes are the 12"x12" and the 9"x9" sizes. There are also a few other sizes available, but these two are the most used among scrapbookers. If you feel intimidated by the large 12"x12" album, you can downgrade to a 9"x9" or even 8"x10" size.
There are many different styles of photo albums. Wedding albums are often white or cream, traditional photo albums will probably be leather bound in dark colours. Baby albums will likely be baby blue or pink in colour. When choosing consider whether you want a themed photo album or a neutral album that will work for many different photos.
Photo albums have been an English tradition for generations. Few heirlooms detail a family's history, record a wedding or mark a milestone like a photo album. The very best albums are made from high quality leather. It looks classy, feels nice and lasts for many decades. Plastic and cardboard albums fade or get discoloured easily. However, a leather album can be left on a coffee table to be enjoyed with no fear of damage from frequent handling. Also, it will protect your photos more thoroughly than any other type. They cost more, but they're worth it in the long run.
There are many different styles from ringed albums to book bound albums. Then there are those with slip-in pockets and those with blank pages on which to present your photos.Ringed albums allow themselves to be expanded easily by adding additional pages into the ring binder, whilst book bound albums have a fixed number of pages but they can often be more attractive and durable.
