Photo albums have been an English tradition for generations. Few heirlooms detail a family's history, record a wedding or mark a milestone like a photo album. The very best albums are made from high quality leather. It looks classy, feels nice and lasts for many decades. Plastic and cardboard albums fade or get discoloured easily. However, a leather album can be left on a coffee table to be enjoyed with no fear of damage from frequent handling. Also, it will protect your photos more thoroughly than any other type. They cost more, but they're worth it in the long run.
A post-bound album uses metal binding posts (hence the name) to secure the scrapbook pages in between the covers. The main disadvantage of using a post-bound album is that you need to disassemble the album and take out the pages to insert or remove the page you want. Other than that, using a post-bound album is also a good choice.
While all the points mentioned so far are more or less in favor of getting a photo book, there are also some pretty good reasons against it. As said earlier, wedding photo albums are more expensive, but their still are good value for money, if you consider what you get. You get a proper heavy cover made of real or faux leather, which has a substantially better feel to it than the hard or soft-paper cover of a photo book.
