There are different kinds of adhesives specifically used for mounting photos, such as photo squares or photo splits. Scrapbookers love using these because they can easily remove and reattach photographs (and other memorabilia or embellishments) without defacing the rest of the page. There are also glue sticks for attaching other elements to your pages, although I don't recommend using these in areas of high humidity.
It is important to consider the purpose of a given photo album before beginning to put it together. If an album is meant to serve a short-term purpose, it can be made differently than if an album is intended to be a long-term family heirloom. The major concern is with the acidity of papers, plastics, and adhesives used in putting together the album. The PAT (Photographic Activity Test) was designed to help label products as safe for use with photos. Acidic tape, glue, and other products can destroy photographs over time, so it is best to use acid-free products if the album is meant to last. It is also necessary to use paper that is archival quality. This simple choices can help photographs last a long time for future generations.
Aside from the kits, you can always find embellishments being sold individually, so you can easily mix and match those you need. If you're buying stickers or any other embellishments that have adhesives on them, make sure that they are also acid-free.If you don't have a designated table or working surface for your scrapbooking, you can use any table at your home, but I recommend that you cover the table first with an old tablecloth or sheet. Some scrapbookers use old newspapers if they don't have a spare cloth, so you can also consider this option. Using a cover allows you to protect the surface of the table you are working on, as well as catch any drips from your liquid materials such as glue, paint, or ink.
Other important things to considerThere are some other important things to consider when choosing a photo album in addition to the materials used in the construction of the album itself. These will determine how well your photographs will survive over time.Choose a photo album that is acid-free to protect the surface of your photographs and preserve your memories from damaging chemicals
